For a full list of Florida VBAC providers, visit: Florida Friends of Midwives. They have up-to-date information for all regions of the state. Not all midwives are attending VBACs, but it’s a wonderful start to finding that care provider.

thanks for compiling this list. We’re moving back to South Florida and are very interested in a vbac. We had our daughter out of the country and had wonderful care but I chose a csection at that time. I didn’t know then what I know now and would like to see about a natural birth if possible.

    Thanks again!

I hate the laws in fl about V bacs! I practically had to go underground to find help with my home birth. The Doctors here are cowards if u ask me .I very much wanted my v bac home waterbirth, so with much persistance i did find my midwife n dula to assist me with agreements of hush because even though the midwife was willing to help me have the birth i wanted , fl. laws did not allow her to do it legally. This was incredible frustrating because its my body n birth! Why can’t we women have it the way we choose. Well I went a full 40 n 1/2 weeks of pregnancy.(doctors would have NEVRE let that happen) My water broke at home at 3am ,I called my midwife n dula. labor kicked in about a few hrs later,I walked n labored all around my home.contractions were 1 min apart then I got into my hot tub bath tub for about 2 hrs, then took a break from the water. My contractions started to get FURTHER apart , lasted 16 hrs then just stopped for unknown reasons. I went to sleep. 5am it started again n much stronger. I was very tired and became panicky of the upcomming pain. After 27 hrs of my water breaking . I made the reluctant choice of going to the hospital for pain med, where my birth experience turned in to a nightmare!!!Not only did they deny me pain meds for 4 hrs As I screamed n begged for the pain med, they automatically preped me for a c section I never wanted. U see if the laws were different I would have gotten my pain med and chances are very likely I would have had my Vbac. Instaed I was tramatized as well as my new born with all the needels bright lights , rough treatment… and it just goes on. The up side is my beautiful baby girl was 9 lbs 4 oz 22 in long. I checked us out befor they continued to overtest us. I hate my birth experience and suffered greatly from post partum depression for the first time in 4 other births. But I am now loving my beautiful chubby , healthy baby girl who is now 16 lbs at 4 mos! good luck to all u others who wish on a v bac.

This list did nothing to help me…. None of the providers in my area even allow VBACs and I was told at my hospital that there was a doctor in the county that does them.. But only ONE doctor, and now I can’t find any information to find him?!?! I’m at a loss… I felt forced to have my son and now I want to try a natural birth next time… I’m not currently pregnant but when we begin to try I want to already know that I’d have someone to go to if this was my option!

Got something to say?
